Description
5 1/2" (14 cm.) Waist-up porcelain figure of nude woman with right arm gracefully posed away as though balancing, her left arm supporting the double-handled bronze-finish urn she holds on her head, with sculpted white head shawl having beaded-dot accents over grey hair. Marks: (blue bishop's staff stamp). Excellent condition, professional restoration on tip of right baby finger. Dressel, Kister & Co, circa 1910, the figure was inspired by a 19th century costume design book which identified the costume as "French milkmaid" and was created by Dressel in several variations ranging from this nude half-doll to a full figure costumed figurine which appeared in their catalog as model 4230.
