20" (51 cm.) Felt swivel head with pressed and painted features, blue side-glancing eyes, smoky eye shadow, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, blonde mohair wig in original braided coronet with interwoven blue ribbons, felt body with jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Riomaggiore (on original paper parchment label). Comments: Lenci, mid-1930s, the doll is wearing an original costume of the Riomaggiore village of northwest Italy. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved doll in richly sky-blue felt gown with embroidered details, ruffled lace collar, silk plaid apron, undergarments, gold bead necklace, felt coiffe with embroidered details, and carrying a woven basket of felt flowers.
