12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender elongated facial shape, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils of aquiline nose, closed mouth with very full lips in downcast pensive expression, brunette mohair bobbed wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 107 30. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, the model "Karl" from their art character series, from an original 1898 sculpture by the Berlin artist, Lewin Funcke, which he offered to the Kammer and Reinhardt firm for use as a doll's head. Value Points: the pensive expression of the older child model has very fine quality of bisque and painting, original body and body finish, antique mariner costume, undergarments, socks, signed shoes.
