24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head with rich amber brown complexion enhanced by lustrous patina, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted black lashes, black brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth with outlined lips, row of porcelain teeth, pierced ears, black mohair wig over cork pate, French brown composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, some wear on silk dress. Marks: (artist checkmarks on head). Comments: Jumeau, circa 1890. Value Points: splendid large bebe with beautiful luminous complexion, original body and body finish, wearing original rich silk costume and jewelry, original Jumeau undergarments, knit stockings, and leather shoes signed "Paris Bebe 11" with bee symbol; the large size, richness of costume, and perfectly preserved condition indicate likely creation as an 1889 Paris Exhibition model for affluent Eastern travelers.
