11" (28 cm.) l. 6"h. A finely-crafted rosewood box in the shape of an elegant pianoforte has an inlay design of bone piano keys on the lid, and a working key. When hinged open, a purple silk and velvet interior is revealed with fitted niches for various sewing utensils including silver scissors, needlecase, thimble, awl, and more, as well as a padded pincushion area. Hidden beneath is a music box which winds from beneath. Cabinetry and contents are excellent, music box needs adjustment. French, circa 1875.
