12" (30 cm.) and 14". Each has earthenware head with enamel eyes and well defined features and hair,the woman with flowing brown hair and humble demeanor,and the man with shadowed bald pate,pronounced nose,defined teeth,and forehead wart,each with hemp-wrapped body,eathenware lower arms with expressive features,and sculpted stockings and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neopolitan,early 1800s. Value Points: very fine expressions are enhanced by artful painting,each with well detailed original costume. Also included are earthenware horse and lamb from Neopolitan village scene,each with enamel eyes. Being sold from The Strong Museum to benefit the collection funds,ex-collection Margaret Woodbury Strong.
