24" (61 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows with decorative glaze, accented eye corners and shaded nostrils, closed mouth with very solemn expression, accent line between the daintily outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig, early Kestner composition and wooden plump body with large attached ball joints and straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 15. Comments: Kestner, circa 1885. Value Points: an especially pretty example of the classic doll with beautiful painting, original body and body finish, wearing superb antique ivory silk dress with faux lacing, embroidered lace sleeves, silk bonnet with fine soutache embroidery, undergarments, stockings, and French cream leather shoes impressed with full figure of a doll and the insignia of the Parisian doll shop A La Providence on the Rue de Rivoli.
