40" (102 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head and torso depicting gentle-faced woman, with wooden arms articulated at shoulders and elbows, and posed upon wooden "cage" lower body; with original painted complexion, hair, facial features, and defined bodice, brown eyes with all-around outline, strong nose, closed mouth, and simply-defined center-parted hair that is drawn behind the well-defined ears and captured in a nape roll. Condition: overall very good with original painted finish, one finger broken off, other fingers chipped on palm side. Comments: Continental, 18th century, the doll was originally purposed for ceremonial parades, and later utilized as a fashion mannequin. Value Points: well-preserved carved wooden doll with poignant expression.
