This poupee, along with following lot #200, have been recently discovered in the attic rooms of a chateau near Dijon, France in the Bourgogne region; both dolls were stored in an original old wooden trunk box along with their trousseaux and accessories. The trunk, which is included with this doll #199, has the trunk label of Baldomme, Bazar Central of Dijon, as well as a the handwritten note indicating its original owner, Madame Richard Guillemot (partially illegible). Value Points: an important trousseau doll, increasingly impossible to find in this original state of preservation, is enhanced by her beautiful face and fine condition. Her trousseau includes five gowns (shown here, one with very separate rare overlay open weave jacket, and one with separate embroidered lace wrap; one with matching bonnet) along with three additional bonnets, wooden hat box, early woven shoes, parasol, lambswool muff, lace shawl, gloves, white pique jacket, cream cashmere cape, and extensive undergarments.
