11" (28 cm.) Each has earthenware head with sculpted hair and facial features,enamel inset eyes,hemp-wrapped body,eathenware lower arms and legs,including aged woman with red-ribboned hair,and older man with greyish hair brushed from high forehead,and with highly defined high cheekbones. Condition: generally excellent,horizontal age line at throat of woman. Comments: Neopolitan,early 1800s. Value Points: superb characterization of the two persons,each with elaborate original costume. Being sold from The Strong Museum to benefit the collection funds,ex-collection Margaret Woodbury Strong.
