Description
19" (48 cm.) All-cloth doll with firmly-pressed and oil-painted facial features, amber complexion, painted upper glancing eyes, black one stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, black human hair, muslin stitch-jointed body, oil-painted lower arms and legs, stitch-shaped hands in the manner of Martha Chase dolls. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese, maker unknown, early 1900s, the finely-hand-crafted costume closely resembles a similar example found on Door of Hope dolls, constituting blue cotton tunic with soutache closing, matching pants, rattan cape and skirt designed as rain gear, and a wide tightly woven cap.
