11" (28 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head with unique heart-shaped face, sculpted close-cropped black hair with comb-marked detail, enamel eyes, heavily-lidded eyes, mouth modeled as though lips slightly parted, with a row of teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, early costume comprising painted blue stockings, orange/brown shoes with orange bows, wearing brown breeches, red vest, jacket with velvet trim. Excellent condition, Neapolitan, early 1700s, rare model with very expressive characterization, in the manner of Lorenzo Mosca.
