17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head, black sculpted hair in short curls with stippled details of curls around the forehead, painted blue upper-glancing eyes with richly-shaded coloring, thick black upper eyeliner, painted all-around lashes, arched brows, circle accents at nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pink kid hand-stitched poupee body with shapely torso, mitten hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1860, Gaultier. Value Points: in wonderfully-preserved condition, the rare early doll wearing original well-detailed costume including hand-stitched linen and kidskin boots, and embroidered sash.
