Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes with darker blue outer irises, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, delicately shaded lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French poupee body with firmly-stuffed twill torso and legs, kid arms, antique lingerie. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D (head and shoulderplate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1872, the year in which the distinctive smiling model was deposed. Value Points: especially fine example of the beloved smiling poupee, with original very sturdy body, original wig, earrings and necklace.
