24" (61 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulderhead with black painted pate, dark enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, accented nostrils, open mouth, two upper teeth, row of lower teeth, brunette hand-tied human hair wig, very firm hand-stitched kid poupee body with very shapely legs and arms, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1850, the head is attributed to Andreas Voit for the French market. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved doll with original lustrous finish, original wig, very sturdy original body, and wearing exceptional white cotton cutwork costume of superb hand workmanship, laced detail at the back, and matching cutwork petticoat and pantalets, original slippers and gloves.
