The wooden box with decorative paper covers and gilt-lettered label "Perles" hinges open to well-fitted interior designed to teach the skill of bead work, with partially-finished sample, twelve glass-topped compartment of colorful glass beads, various sewing tools and threads. Excellent condition. French, circa 1900, arrangements such as this, designed to teach young girls various needlework skills, were offered in holiday Etrennes catalogs of the era.
