Description
9" (23 cm.) A blonde-sculpted hair doll with paper mache shoulder head and painted features has shapely tin torso and hinged tin arms, mounted upon a wheeled tinplate platform enclosed in a wire cage frame (designed to be covered by skirt of costume). When wound, the base revolves around and around, giving the illusion that the doll is gliding or dancing. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions well, finish on head is original and fresh, some retouch on shoulder plate. Marks: (Lehmann logo on underside and) D.R, Patent, Engl. Patent DRGM. Comments: Lehmann, circa 1900. Value Points: rare toy which hearkens back to the gliding lady French dolls of earlier generations.
