Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 0 (head and shoulders). Comments: French, circa 1875. Value Points: sought after petite size, near mint sturdy original body, original wig, wearing (frail) original couturier gown and undergarments, earrings, and with rare original leather slippers signed "Beaudelot a Pair"; Louis Gustave Beaudelot advertising that he "made doll shoes of all types, plain and fancy" beginning in the 1872 L'Annuaire de Commerce which he proudly imprinted with his name.
