16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with round-faced modeling, plump double chin, brown glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line, auburn mohair wig, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with flat-cut derriere, straight wrists, nicely costumed in vintage French style dress, undergarments, antique silk and lace ivory bonnet, antique shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sch (in shield, head and derriere) 1. Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: early model from the prestige Parisian dollmaker has most endearing sweet expression, original body and body finish.
