20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head, amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, lushly-painted lashes, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth, outlined lips, separately-modeled pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent, few scuffs on hands. Marks: Depose Jumeau 9 (incised mark, with artist checkmarks) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, the first bebe bearing Jumeau's full signature on head, indicating his unique position in the history of French dolls, circa 1882, the model was made for one or two years only. Value Points: very beautiful bebe with fine gleaming bisque and artistic painting of complexion and features, original body and body finish, wearing superb rose satin and lace dress and matching bonnet created in the workshops of Ernestine Jumeau, undergarments, signed Jumeau shoes.
