Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass spiral threaded inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eyeshadow, feathered brows, closed mouth with daintily accented and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: G (head) H (shoulders). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, his deposed smiling model of 1872, her resemblance to Empress Eugenie is remarkable and indicates that the doll was intended as a portrait of the beloved royal lady. Value Points: especially beautiful face, original wig and coiffure, original very sturdy body, with antique costume.
