Description
6 1/2" (17 cm.) Waist-up porcelain half-dolls depicting nude lady with grey sculpted hair in elaborate 18th century style arrangement, crowned by a rose cap which is circled at the front with a wreath of Dresden roses, arms modeled away from her body with daintily curled fingers. Marks: (blue bishop's staff stamp). Generally excellent. Germany, circa 1910, Dressel & Kister, the doll closely portrays the Princess de Lamballe from Marie Antoinette's court, whose signature style portrayed in several oil paintings with this coronet circlet of flowers.
