Description
13" (33 cm.) Carved wooden dromedary with deeply sculpted details of carving of mane, eye sockets with painted eyes, musculature, painted brown finish with shaded detail, and with elaborate velvet and gilt saddle blanket and wrappings. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, early 1700s, carved wooden animals were created in the studios of the Vassallo brothers albeit more commonly with enamel eyes; this work has unknown attribution.
