17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial shape depicting older child, painted blue eyes in deeply-defined eye sockets, heavily-modeled upper eyelids, dark upper eyeliner, short single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique boy's costume including woolen breeches, striped knit stockings, leather boots, velvet vest, shirt, woolen cap. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 150 S&H 0 1/2 (head) Heinrich Handwerck (body). Comments: Simon and Halbig, from the firm's rare art character series, circa 1910. Value Points: especially fine painting of features enhance the choice modeling which is further enriched by decorative glaze on eyes and lips, original wig, body and body finish.
