Description
19" (48 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a young girl with bisque head, brown glass paperweight eyes, painted long lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. The doll is wearing elaborate silk and lace costume, wide-brimmed bonnet and is holding a tray that is abundantly filled with flowers and fruit in the midst of which is perched a feathered bird. When wound, music plays, and the little girl turns her head side to side, nods, lifts a little bouquet of flowers toward her face, and, periodically, the feathered bird flits back and forth. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau 5. Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890 with bisque head by Emile Jumeau. Value Points: especially beautiful doll with enchanting movements and music is well-preserved.
