20" (51 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head, deep grey glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, impressed lip corners, separately modeled pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, the model is referred to as Bebe Triste in reference to its sad-faced expression. Value Points: the sought-after model here in rarest petite size 9, has beautiful expression and painting, original body and fine body finish, and superb original costume and matching bonnet, undergarments, socks, and shoes. Ex-collection of Mildred Seeley, and bearing a blue ribbon UFDC award from 1958 convention in New York.
