14" (36 cm.) Each has paper mache shoulder head with sculpted black hair arranged in a center part and waved over her ears into a braided chignon at the back of her head, painted facial features, painted blue eyes, closed mouth with gentle smile, slender kid body, wooden lower limbs. Condition: generally excellent, one silk skirt is frail. Comments: Germany, circa 1850s. Value Points: the matched pair wear original very elaborate traditional costumes with detailed accents and, notably, with silk-braided coronet turbans and silk shoes, and have fine original finish.
