21" (53 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted blue eyes, thick black upper eyeliner, one-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth in gentle smiling expression, outlined lips, row of four painted teeth, impressed dimples in cheeks and philtrum, brunette mohair bobbed wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, fine antique schoolboy costume. Condition: generally excellent, few very minor typical wig pulls at back of head. Marks: 151 S&H 3 Germany. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1910, from that firm's very rare 150 art character series, of which only three different models were made. Value Points: few examples of this artistic art character doll can be found, especially in this larger size, and with very fine sculpting, bisque and painting.
