13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head of aged man with bald pate and curly tufts of hair over each ear, impressed age wrinkles, enamel eyes, mouth modeled as though open with two teeth, painted beard stubble, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted black stockings, brown clogs with red buckles, wearing red silk breeches, ivory silk twill vest and jacket with gold braid, and carrying wooden bird cage with interior bird. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, especially expressive features with artistically-painted complexion and details.
