Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, brown glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, short brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined pale lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, kid gusset-jointed body, bisque forearms, lovely antique lace costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 919 SH 6. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1885, the rare model is virtually unknown, previously undocumented in German Doll Encyclopedia by Cieslik, and only two other examples have ever been sold by Theriault's. Value Points: the gentle beguiling expression is enhanced by finest luminous complexion, especially fine early wig, sturdy body and perfect bisque hands.
