10" (25 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head with sculpted dark brown brushed back hair, neatly-trimmed goatee and thick moustache, enamel eyes, row of painted teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted wrinkled yellow leggings and yellow clogs with red piping, original costume comprising silk harem pants, twill vest, full-length burgundy silk coat with metallic braid edging, fabric turban, and carrying an early fine silver chest with very delicate filigree work. Excellent condition, one finger chipped. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, exceptionally fine facial sculpture especially for this smaller model, with choice artistry of painting, rare silver chest.
