28" (71 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling and very full cheeks, blue glass paperweight eyes of great depth, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, multi-feathered brows, mauve blushed eye shadow, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined shaded lips, separately applied pierced ears, dimpled chin and lip corners, elongated blonde mohair wig, cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with plump limbs and straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 13 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, an early model of the desirable triste bebe in rare larger size. Value Points: superb delicately-pale complexion enhanced by brilliant eyes and subtle blush, waist-length antique wig, original body and body finish, wearing original Ernestine Jumeau aqua silk costume with elaborate construction detail, matching bonnet, original Jumeau undergarments, socks, and aqua kidskin shoes (one sole missing) signed E. Jumeau.
