Description
15" (38 cm.) Bisque socket head, almond-shaped brown glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered highlights, delicately-accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with wide center accent line, auburn mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique Sunday Best boy's costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 111 5. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1912; it has been conjectured this is the missing 111 model registered by Kammer and Reinhardt in 1910. As with the 112 and 114 models, both made for K*R by S&H, it was likely created in both painted eye and this sleep-eyed version. Value Points: the extremely rare model has a compelling wistful, yet intelligent, expression enhanced by finest bisque, original body and body finish, and wonderful costume.
