Description
6" (15 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, painted black hair in short bobbed fashion, painted brown side-glancing googly eyes, single-stroke brows, closed mouth with impish smile, paper mache body jointed at shoulders and hips, painted socks and one-strap shoes, original costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 31-1 1/2. Comments: Theodor Recknagel, circa 1915, inspired by the popular comic series, Katzenjammer Kids which was, in turn, inspired by the mid-1800s Wilfred Busch stories of Max and Moritz. Value Points: rare fellow with impish, yet shy, expression, enhancing decorative glaze on hair.
