Description
26" (66 cm.) A pair of lambswool-over-paper mache goats are pulling a fancily woven wicker double-seated cabriolet with driver's seat and foot rest, red metal spoked wheels and elaborately shaped carriage under-bed. The carriage is upholstered in aqua silk with rich tufting and pleats and with braid edging, has foot steps, and a pair of elegant gilded carriage lamps. The goats have painted faces with leather ears, horns, and glass eyes, and their hinged legs attach to the undercarriage mechanical device which, when wound, cause the goats to briskly trot along pulling the carriage. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1865. Value Points: exceptionally rare luxury toy in superbly preserved original condition.
