26" (66 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose eye shadow, arched feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the pale lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, nicely costumed in antique fabrics. Condition: generally excellent, Marks: 8 (head and shoulder plate) F.G. (shoulder plate). Comments: Gaultier, circa 1875. Value Points: very beautiful doll with finest bisque and painting, rare size; in this book, Fascinating Dolls, Samy Odin described the doll as having "spiral threaded paperweight eyes [that] are especially expressive".
