Carved wooden head with carved detail of narrow tight braid that extends around the edge of black painted pate, carved and tinted facial features, deeply set eye sockets, cloth body with unusual jointing at shoulders and hips, wooden hands and bare feet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese Door of Hope Mission doll, one-of-a-kind, circa 1910. Value Points: rarity factors include carved hair braid, body style, and wearing extraordinary original traditional farmer's costume designed as protective gear for a rainy day, with thickly woven wrap and cape over blue cotton shirt and short pants.
