11 1/2" (29 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with black painted pate and real hair queue, carved and tinted facial features, deeply set eye sockets, cloth body, wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese, Door of Hope Mission doll, from the first period, circa 1910, an original paper label indicates "Shanghai municipal policeman", and there is additional Chinese language lettering on undershirt. Value Points: very rare model from the 1910 early group, in impeccable condition, wearing black uniform jacket with blue lining, belt, pants, undershirt, black silk boots, and official hat.
