19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head, dark brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered highlights, mauve blushed eye shadow, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French all-wooden fully-articulated body, straight wrists, shapely torso, antique (frail) ivory silk gown, undergarments, French leather boots. Condition: generally excellent, one finger reglued, light early retouch on body. Marks: Bru Jne 8. Comments: Bru, Henri Chevrot epoch, circa 1889, in which year he introduced his "nouveaux bebes incassable" in an attempt to compete with Jumeau whose composition-bodied bebes were outselling his kid-bodied Bru bebe. Value Points: especially beautiful classic Bru bebe face with finest painting, rare body made for two or three years only.
