14" (36 cm.) One-piece carved wood head and torso with very high domed crown (especially visible in side view), full cheeks, elongated throat, sculpted bosom under painted red chemise or corset, painted very dark brown hair with feathering around the forehead, defined eye sockets with large blue outlined lips, one-stroke brows, closed mouth with accented lips, dowel jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted white stockings and black outlined red shoes, remnants of old gown included. Condition: good, finish scrubbed with age patina, possible very early touch-up. Comments: the doll has ink-inscribed "jahr 1808" (year 1808) on back bottom torso, indicating a clue not only to its date, but also it's it's German background. Value Points: rare early "red body" doll; included is a blue ribbon award from UFDC Chicago convention of 1966.
