14" (36 cm.) Sculpted earthenware shoulder head with bald pate, flowing curls at side of head and nape, and very long flowing beard, has enamel eyes, rosy cheeks, thick bushy brows, hemp-wrapped body, earthenware hands with expressively-posed fingers and painted fancy blue and yellow leggings, open-toe sandals. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, early 1800s. Value Points: outstanding sculpting of expression, beard, fingers, and wearing very elaborate silk costume with rich spangle embroidery and braid.
