26" (66 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dreamy-lidded eyes with dark eyeliner, painted lashes, wide brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with pale accented lips, separately-modeled pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body, straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 12 (and artist checkmarks, head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, his portrait model sculpted by Carrier-Belleuse known as Bebe Triste in reference to wistful expression, circa 1882. Value Points: very beautiful pale complexion with artistic painting of features, original body in near mint condition, antique (possibly original) white cotton voile dress with flocked dots, undergarments, socks, Jumeau leather shoes with bee symbol and "12", and outstanding pressed cream flannel bonnet with silk and lilies of the valley decorations.
