Description
24" (61 cm.) Posed en pointe upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque head lady with brown glass eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, open mouth, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, slender lady shaped torso and long slender legs, her right leg with bent knee, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. When wound, music plays and she elegantly twirls around, extending her bent leg and then drawing it back in formal ballerina movements. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism and music function well. Marks: 1159 S&H DEP 5. (head) L.B. (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1895. Value Points: luxury automaton with rich original silk and lace ballerina costume, and with dainty floral garland.
