16" (41 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head portraying man with sculpted curly brown hair and flowing beard, enamel eyes, gaunt detail of cheeks, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet, wearing linen coat with gilt-thread embroidery, brown silk pants, vest, and carrying brass bird cage with cast bird figural atop. Excellent condition, paint worn on hair and feet. Neapolitan, late 1700s.
