19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head, very wide and large blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading and darker blue outer irises, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, delicately feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the delicately-shaded outlined lips, pierced ears, original blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, original body and body finish. Marks: 2 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, his prestige early portrait model whose eyes are known as "wrap-around" in reference to their distinctive shape, circa 1878. Value Points: very rare early model with exemplary expression, bisque and painting, fine antique costume comprising cape collar dress with lavish lace trim, undergarments, quilted silk bonnet with lace and ribbon frou-frou, and kidskin shoes with brown silk rosettes.
