24" (61 cm.) h. 14"w. Arranged on a black ebony wooden base under arched glass dome is a wire-framed form in basket shape, covered overall including handle with rich forest green velvet and ornamented with a gilded metal bow. A rose silk tufted cushion is centered in the middle of the basket form and resting upon it is a crown-shaped bridal coronet. Excellent condition. French, an unusual presentation of the traditional "globe de mariee" created by each young bride-to-be, designed to depict her wishes for the future and to provide means to display wedding ephemera for future generations. French, circa 1890.
