Description
4" (10 cm.) -5" dolls. Each is all wooden with one-piece head and torso, dowel-jointed wooden limbs, painted black hair and facial features, antique costume. Along with early wooden hand-carved blanket chest with removable lid; and miniature wooden chest with faux-wood grain finish and wooden straps, and with mysterious symbols on the hinged lid; and three-drawer chest of red-washed pine with mahogany drawer fronts, brass cast faux keyholes and knob, impressed "J. Bubb Maker" on underside. John Bubb of 39 White Street, Southwark, London was a toy and cabinet manufacturer (1809晶_廟ユ37). Excellent condition. Mid-1800s.
