12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender elongated facial shape, painted brown eyes, black upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with very full lips in pensive expression, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 107 30. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, circa 1910, "Karl" from their art character series, based upon an original 1898 sculpture by the famed Berlin artist, Lewin Funcke who Reinhardt had commissioned to create his series of art dolls. Value Points: especially fine detail of sculpting which is quite remarkable for this petite size, finest bisque and painting, original body and body finish.
