Description
21" (53 cm.) Arranged upon a velvet covered base is a bisque head girl with glass eyes, brunette mohair wig, original costume, holding a training stick in one hand and a biscuit in the other. Facing her, posed upon a chair, is a costumed glass-eyed paper mache dog, resting on its back haunches, with front paws extended in a begging manner. When wound, music plays, the girl turns her head side to side and extends training stick as though commanding the pup, and then tempts with the biscuit she extends in her left hand. Meanwhile the pup leans back and forth, his front paws finally leaning on his chair tray while he looks beseechingly at the biscuit, and all the while vigorously wagging his tail. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1902 2/0 Comments: Renou, Paris, circa 1895. Value Points: rare automaton functions well and presents a delightful amusing scene, in fine original condition.
