21" (53 cm.) Gofun-finishing portrait of young man, enamel brown eyes, attached cap over arranged coiffure, right arm posed to hold an object, wearing superb silk and cotton ensemble comprising brown silk sleeveless tunic with embroidered emblems over long-sleeved wrapped blouse with more embroidered details, striped short very full pants with waist wrap and matching leggings, black slippers. With original paper label on underside of slippers "Made in Japan expressly for G.T. Marsh & Co". G.T. Marsh and Sons, also known as Marsh's Oriental Art Store, was located in a historic building in Monterey, California, built in 1928, and was an inspiration and source for Huguette Clark for many of her unique commissioned pieces.
